Armenia Reaffirms Commitment to Peace with Azerbaijan

Yerevan, February 1, 2025 — Armenia has reiterated its dedication to finalizing the normalization process with Azerbaijan through the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative. This plan aims to strengthen economic and transportation ties, fostering regional stability and cooperation.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the government’s firm stance on peace, stating, “Our government’s position remains unchanged; we are fully committed to the peace agenda.” Armenia is actively working to establish sustainable diplomatic relations, paving the way for long-term regional development.

In a significant move, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed Armenia’s willingness to consider dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group, an international mediation body for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. However, he clarified that this would only happen if Azerbaijan formally declares that it has no further claims. “Armenia is ready to agree to the dissolution of the Minsk Group, but only if Azerbaijan also renounces any claims,” Pashinyan stated.

Additionally, discussions continue regarding the establishment of transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a crucial step in stabilizing economic relations. Armenia remains open to this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to regional connectivity and cooperation.

With ongoing diplomatic efforts, Armenia is actively shaping a peaceful and prosperous future in the South Caucasus. The government’s strategic vision aligns with fostering sustainable growth, mutual understanding, and long-term stability.
