Zelensky Accuses Putin of Evading Peace Talks Amid Intensifying Conflict

February 3, 2025

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of deliberately avoiding peace negotiations, claiming that Putin fears engaging in dialogue and is prolonging the war. This comes amid a series of devastating missile strikes that have left many civilians dead, including children and well-known public figures.

Recent Russian missile attacks on Ukraine have caused significant destruction, with multiple casualties reported. A deadly strike in Poltava claimed the lives of a nine-year-old girl and her parents, along with several others. Ukrainian actress Anastasia Kolovakh was also among the victims. The escalation of violence has drawn international condemnation, with Zelensky urging global leaders to take a stronger stance against Russian aggression.

Despite ongoing calls for diplomacy, Putin has dismissed Ukraine’s leadership, questioning the legitimacy of Kyiv’s government due to Zelensky’s extended term under martial law. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has also voiced opposition to Zelensky’s potential re-election, further straining diplomatic efforts.

As the conflict intensifies, Zelensky continues to push for stronger international support, emphasizing the urgent need for military aid and sanctions against Russia. The war has placed immense pressure on Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure, while public opinion on Zelensky’s leadership remains divided.

While the situation remains volatile, Zelensky remains committed to seeking a just resolution, urging the world to stand with Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and peace.
